Derek Carr and Deshaun Watson got into a shootout in one of the top passing games of the season. Watson also had 7 rushes for 49 yards and 4 first downs (including two on third down and one on fourth down), which isn’t included in the data. That’s one reason why the Raiders lost despite the great passing performance from Carr.
The graph below shows the passing value differential for each game in week 8. The Oakland/Houston game was the big outlier, but teams with a big passing efficiency edge went 12-1 this week.
